Busy Week: Highchairs and Clapping and Teeth, Oh My!

It has actually been a busy couple of weeks! I’ll just try to hit the highlights. First order of business was a highchair for Rydie. Up to this point, he was sitting in either his car seat or his vibrating chair. It was getting pretty hard to feed him, so we had to get one. I wasn’t avoiding it by any means! I just wanted a certain chair. I liked the fact that it converted to a booster. Of course it has been out of stock. It was supposed to be available mid-April, but we just couldn’t wait any longer. I do like the chair that we got, though. It is convenient and folds up nicely. Rydie likes it because he can hang out in the kitchen with us and actually see what’s going on.

                                                Ryder and the Highchair

Ryder has been teething for a couple of months, but so far he’s only had some little nubs on his gums. One morning I went to get him up and he gave me a big smile, as usual. Only this time it wasn’t a big gummy smile. There was a little sliver of tooth! I almost cried, I couldn’t believe it. He is literally changing and growing overnight! It just blows me away how fast he is growing.

On Saturday afternoon, we had a few friends over to watch the Lakers Game. They were winning, so there was a good amount of clapping going on. Ryder didn’t want to feel left out, so he just started clapping! We weren’t even trying to teach him, he just picked it up. We were so surprised, but so excited! As with all new tricks, Ryder had been practicing and practicing.

In addition to all of the other “big boy” milestones, Ryder went swimming for the first time! He took a dip with his daddy in his Grandma Sharon’s hot tub (it was about 80 degrees). I think that he thought he was just in a gigantic bath tub. He spent most of his time splashing himself! He did start to kick a little at the end!

I also think that he couldn’t quite figure out why his daddy was in the bath with him! All that swimming can really wear a little guy out. A big nap was in order and he crashed out!

Sometimes it’s hard to be a baby! Well, Ryder and I are leaving today to visit Binky and Big Daddy. Ryder will be taking his third round-trip airplane ride. He is quite the jet-setter! You will be glad to know that I finally broke down and bought an umbrella stroller. That should make my traveling so much easier, but I was so sad to buy another stroller. I can’t believe that we are leaving when I am so behind on my blog! I have about 17 posts that I need to write. I am sure that we will have many adventures to report about upon our return. Until then, have a safe and happy weekend and Cinco de Mayo. Have an ice cold Tecate for me!
