Welp, another year done and gone. Still hard to believe. I look at the little boy in front of me and can’t believe that he is the same tiny baby from last year. It amazes me that I hardly change from year to year (okay, maybe add a few wrinkles here and there) yet Ryder has grown into a little BOY!
He is really starting to talk, although a lot of his words have various uses and meanings. He loves to read (which just makes my heart burst) and “book” was one of his first words. He has a favorite food. He loves waffles (or “wa-wa” as he calls them). If I would let him, he would eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And everything in between. He is adventurous, silly and very sensitive to other’s feelings. He loves to sing and dance and give raspberries. When I think about how much he has learned this past year, I guess it’s not surprising that this year went as fast as it did.
I am not one to make resolutions, but I do have an idea of things that I would like to do in 2009. I want to continue to guide my son and teach him about the world. I want to work on perfecting my cupcake skills (maybe even branch out to some other baked goods). I want to continue growing in my cooking as well, trying out new recipes and skills. I want to remember to carve out “me time” and get through my book list (that continues to grow faster than I can read). And of course, I want to keep up with my blogging and my blog reading!
This year we will be celebrating New Year’s together at home, with just our family. I am going to cook up some steaks, steam some asparagus, roast some potatoes and pour some champagne. I am fairly certain that I will not make it to Midnight! Such is the life of a mom, huh?
Wherever you are, however you’re celebrating, I hope you have a fabulous, safe time!
